Advertisements claim that PDAs are essential business tools, and they're making a million dollar income from that sales pitch. But if you try to assess your needs fully, you may realize that you don't really need a PDA. It doesn't make life easier nor will it make much difference in your business ventures.

Instead of a PDA, I'd rather have a girl Friday by my side. She'll respond to all my needs. I won't even have to budge. If I'm a business executive, why do I have to tinker with a mini PDA screen if I can get the reports and date sheets I need from my clerk. There's no sense at all if I can use a laptop with ease. It has a larger screen, a larger memory, plus the convenience of an easier wireless access. I can even use my cellphone as reminder and organizer. So who needs a PDA?

Sometimes all PDA can do is assert your status symbol. Not all businessmen are always on the go, they can afford some help from an assistant. On business trips, you don't present facts or data using your PDA. You've got hard copies for it. It's even inconvenient to manipulate PDA softwares using a stylus. But yes, it does make any man look sophisticated, advanced, and well-cultured. Only for me, all I need is a golf holiday as luxury for a businessman like me.

Sometimes money isn't enough to solve your problems or worries. You need to share info and compare prices before you come up with the ultimate choice. You are the choice you make. You can be smart or stupid, but still that's your prerogative as a buyer. Anyway it's your money which is about to disappear in a thoughtless purchase. Buyers find themselves torn in a tug of war between function and style. If you're Paris Hilton, you'll choose style. But if you're Bill Gates, you'll evaluate the sensible features or function of the item you'll use. As a business tool, your prime concern is to evaluate your PDA through its functions. Connectivity and storage are the two variables of comparison.

If you need wireless connectivity, your PDA should be more than happy and willing to serve you. There are different types of wireless connectivity such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a cellular phone. Bluetooth is the most popular for it's easy and simple. You just need to connect with Bluetooth-enabled devices and you can browse in a click. Wi-fi on the other hand can consume more battery power. You can also use a cell phone to achieve a wireless access through GSM or PCS. With these options, know which ones you need the most. Make life easy for you and your PDA.

PDA is like having a surrogate secretary in your palm. The good thing is you can always manipulate the software and be reminded of your daily activities and schedules with its in-house organizer and to-do lists. When you're given access through wireless connectivity, then it only means that you'll need a bigger storage bag. Hence, storage is another important point of PDA comparison. If you're fond of downloading or you always need to run on a few software programs, then you may need a PDA that will provide more room for your needs. You may use removable memory cards or sticks so you can be assured of its stored value. Learn the PDA specs and in no time you'll be able to make that choice.

How do you end up with the ultimate choice without asking first the big question? Without a clear idea of what we want, we are rather pushed to buy impulsively. In a high edge technology, you are almost sure to spin your exorcised head in 360 degrees just to choose the best one for you. Just because a PDA is a must-have, doesn't mean that all models are meant for you. So how do you determine which PDA you should get? Here's how:
First, hear yourself out. What do you really want? What do you really need? As soon as you've been enlightened, then you're ready to answer these questions. Do you need an organizer for daily schedules and planning? Or perhaps you need to run certain software applications using a PDA. Will your PDA be a more comfortable access to email and the internet? If not, maybe you want your PDA more as an entertainment companion rather than a business guide.
When you've responded to these questions earnestly, maybe then you'll be certain which features will soothe your taste and style. You have the choice to sift and nix off what you don't need and focus on specs that will give you valuable joy and satisfaction. Remember that a PDA is not sheer substitute for your computer. With larger screen, I'm sure you'll still find the desktop a helpful business tool.
We have different reasons for buying. Some buy out of compulsion while others buy for pleasure. Whatever it is, even if you're a complete junkie for technology, better have something that will uplift your experience.

The personal digital assistant is supposed to simplify your life in a click. But if your head wiggles in confusion and desperate compulsion, then the wrong PDA is on your palm. Of course, all PDA's are savvy and chic, but do all your needs run dry and blink? In looking for a pal, you definitely don't go for looks, you go for the same jive.
Is your PDA meant for you? There are thousands of craps published on PDA reviews and charts. And believe me, in advertising, they make unnecessary claims to fool us with the glitter of gold and commercialism. Nix off the ad junkies and have a picture of your own personal needs.
If you're a sham and you go for the price just to impress, then it's up to you. But it's not a real indicator of relevance and PDA success. There are features that may not be relevant to suit your need and will just be a waste of memory and space. Hence, you mesh with inconvenience and intricate details.
You'll have to list down your priorities and cite the need for a PDA. That way it will cater just right to your expectations. Not too much of a hassle and not too less during a bustle.

Although PDAs were designed to give convenience; however, all of them have specific characteristics. PDAs have several powerful features. All you need to do is to identify which of these handhelds can support your particular needs. You need to do a comparison before you buying a unit. For example, if you like a Palm, check the features of each model to find the right one for you.

With all the innovated PDAs and cell phones today, it will really hard to you to choose which one you will buy. But as a rule of thumb, you should consider your need and budget when buying your gadget. There are several manufacturers of handheld units around. All you need to do is to know their uniqueness.
Nokia is famous for its superior cell phone units. Now, it has a PDA phone, too. The Nokia 9300 Smartphone is the first US handheld that offers BlackBerry Connect email through BES or BIS. It's also capable to surf, send email, or download. Aside from the common features that a phone and PDA have, Nokia 9300 is almost a laptop-like handheld because it has video player and Adobe Reader.
But if you want a high-quality camera feature, choose the Nokia N90. It has Carl Zeiss optics for a good-quality image. You can take a picture in landscape or portrait style. More so, its integrated videophone will let you talk to the person like face-to-face. It has MP3 and AAC stereo music player, too.

Everybody's preferences and needs for PDA differ. For some, they want to have internet access on their stylish PDAs; while for others, a traditional PDA gadget is sufficient. It is useful to know what particular PDA you will need before entering the PDA marketplace. You should know what features are being offered before you decide to get one.
You probably want the HP iPaq rx1950. This is a cute PDA. This slim and light handheld device has a long battery life. It is complete with Windows Mobile 5 system, and won't cost you much. However, you might be frustrated to know that Bluetooth is absent in this unit. So, if price is important to you, this one is perfect even without the Bluetooth.
But if you are after Wi-fi and Bluetooth, you can pick the HP iPaq hx2790. Although it is overweight and bulky, this PDA is one of the most expensive handheld units. This is because of its superior features; armed with Windows Mobile 5, Wi-fi and Bluetooth feature, and a fingerprint reader. Tungsten has can do lots of applications and it runs on flash memory. iPAQ does too. They both fit perfectly in your pocket. They both have USB connectors and are Bluetooth capable. You can do presentations, documents and spreadsheets in both PDA. Tungsten and iPAQ can carry your photos, MP3s and games. They are almost equal with each other. But iPAQ wins this one because aside from being Bluetooth capable, it also has WiFi capability. Plus, you can secure your iPAQ HX2750 with your fingerprint because it has a fingerprint reader. Usability? It's a tie. Cool Factor? iPAQ HX2750 wins.
