A PDA, or personal digital assistant, is a device that allows you to store information, send messages, and even make calls. The newest PDAs are more like expanded cellular phones and come with features usually found in cellular units such as built-in cameras and music players.
What a handheld PDA can offer
A handheld PDA offers information input with a keypad or a stylus, so that you can write down notes, keep a calendar, follow a to-do list, and surf the internet with its built-in Internet connectivity options. Most documents also sport document viewers and editors. They essentialy offer the same features as smart phones, but PDAs have a distinctive design. Depending on the features the PDAt has, it can be less expensive than most smartphones.
Fun applications for a handheld PDA
A handheld PDA can also be a great recreational tool. You can download songs and games or watch movie clips and videos on your device. Most PDAs that come with built-in cameras also come with video recording capabilities, so you can take home movies using your handheld PDA. And because most PDAs can be downloaded with software for photo viewing, you can store photos that you can view in your free time. You can also use the PDA to store diet, exercise, and travel software. You can even take care of your bills and record monthly expenses on your PDA with the right software.
A PDA is a useful device for inside and outside the office, for business, office, and even recreational purposes.

A PDA is a valuable tool in organizing your everyday tasks. However, it’s more than just a digital version of a paper planner.
Basic features of a handheld PDA
Just like a paper planner, PDAs have datebooks where you can store information about your schedules and appointments. You can type in your data using a small keyboard or write it in, thanks to the handwriting recognition software in PDAs. PDAs can keep helpful notes in addition to your datebook, as well as to-do lists. These can also organize your contacts in an address book. Calculators and other applications you may need on the go are also part of the basic features of PDAs. Another advantage of PDAs is their ability to sync with your laptop or desktop computer. You can back up important information on your PDA using another computer. You can also easily exchange large amounts of information with your computer and with other PDAs.
Latest apps for handheld PDAs
The applications you can download onto your PDA make it almost the equivalent of a laptop. Useful apps, especially for business, are word processing and spreadsheet software. PDAs can also handle documents using PDF readers. Other apps give your PDA Internet browsing and email capabilities. You can also use your PDA to make traveling easier, thanks to apps that give the weather report in your destination as well as maps and driving directions. There are also apps specific to your lifestyle needs, be it sports, dieting, or hobbies. PDAs also provide entertainment with music and games.
There’s more to the PDA than just reminders for your appointments. Using your PDA can organize your life and keep you more in touch with the important people around you, as well as maximize your time and ability to do the things you enjoy.

Your PDA screen is one of the most important parts of your PDA. Not only does it provide you with a visual interface. This is also now popularly used as the control interface of PDAs via touch screen controls. Thus, maintaining your PDA screen is of utmost importance.
Use a soft or hard case for your PDA that will protect the screen.
Using a case, be it hard or soft, for your PDA can help maintain its screen. This protects it from abrasive surfaces. At the same time, your PDA’s case can be decorative and add to the appeal of your PDA.
Use a screen protevtor to avoid finger prints.
You can also use a screen protector for your PDA’s screen. A screen protector is a transparent thin film of plastic that shields your screen from direct contact. The film is thin enough to enable touch screen functions.
Don't press on the PDA screen too hard.
Of course, you also shouldn’t press on your PDA screen too hard. These are LCD screens, which can get damaged when applied with too much pressure.

PDAs have the potential to be useful for a long time. The tricky part is getting the same lifespan from the PDA batteries. And, like it or not, these PDA batteries may be the most abused part of your personal digital assistant. Here are some tips for lengthening the lifespan of your PDA batteries:
Totally discharge your PDA battery.
It is good practice to fully discharge your PDA battery right after buying it off the store. At this point, your battery has only been factory-charged. Fully discharge it before doing a full charge at home. Make sure to keep an eye on your PDA and unplug it as soon as it’s charged.
Do not leave your PDA battery plugged in for too long.
Try not to leave your PDA battery plugged in long after it’s been fully charged. This can overload your PDA battery, and shorten its expected lifespan.
Check the requirements for the type of PDA battery you use.
Lastly, be sure of the charging requirements of your PDA battery. Sometimes, you might unknowingly plug your personal digital assistant to a higher power surge. This can short your batteries and render your PDA useless.

In these hectic times, your personal digital assistant can be your best friend. These little handy tools can remind you of crucial appointments, important dates, and the like. Your personal digital assistant may even contain some of your important documents and files. Hence, caring for these is important.
Get a soft case for your personal digital assistant so it would be scratch-free.
A soft case for your personal digital assistant would really do wonders for it. For one thing, it protects your personal digital assistant from any scratches. At the same time, a soft case can add to the looks of your personal digital assistant.
Don't overcharge the batteries of your PDA.
Overcharging your personal digital assistant can overload its batteries. This strain will shorten the lifespan of these batteries, and you may not be able to find ready replacements for these.
Use firewall and antivirus to protect your PDA.
Your personal digital assistant is equipped with networking capabilities. This means that, as a mobile tool, it is prone to hacking and malicious attacks. As with your laptop or desktop, you are better off protecting this with firewalls and antivirus software too.

Every once in a while, a man needs to sharpen his logic and reasoning. Certain challenges can push him out of his drudgery. Whenever I feel that life is so glum and boring, I turn to my PDA. I don't edit office works but I get down to gaming. It can be a fun escape from overwork. Gaming relaxes your tensed nerves and keeps pressure away. Don't underestimate a good and exciting modern game; it's like coffee -- sometimes, it will perk you up in a lonely night.

If you're dumb, old, and boring, this game's not for you. Pocket Aargon is for a smart ass like me. It's mind-boggling and puzzling, so if you can't keep up with the demands, just don't try it anymore or you'll end up frustrated and doubting your own mindpower. I've never experienced a game so captivating after TextTwist. Are you lame or smart? Pocket Aargon will tell you who you are!
Thursday, May 10. 2007
The Pocket Aargon features 150 mind-boggling laser puzzles with a complete set of tutorial steps. You can access hints and solutions freely but it won't get in the way of thrill and fun. There are 30 levels in the version. Each is unique, but you can also create your own level of Aargon puzzles. Once you get into the custom levels with your friend, you won't stop playing. It's addictive!

I had earned the habit of browsing through Xbox game review sites to keep myself updated. I also peruse the magazine back issues. One time I actually spent the entire afternoon reading raves for the latest PSP and Xbox mags - and it's how I probably earned the reputation for being "sick". It's a term someone used for a Tony Hawk fanatic who can finish the game in 8 hours (or was I talking about Halo II?). It's the equivalent of being a pro to the point of insanity.

I've probably digressed too far. But what I'm pointing at here is the Dell Axim X5 PDA. I'm labeled "sick" by merely buying it. I probably am, because the excellent features would have kept me awake for three nights in a row. Until someone told me to stop, and I kept on punching the keys. Learning to navigate Dell Axim X5 PDA won't take forever, but enjoying the features probably will. Someone said it's a workhorse that knows luxury -- what an apt phrase! Dell Axim X5 PDA has utterly incomparable amount of memory that it can support both SD and CF.

This new handheld from Dell comes equipped with Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, contacts, calendar, voice recorder, and a host of built-in "devices". It has 64MB SDRAM and 48MB Intel StrataFlash ROM. A pretty fast processor running at 400MHz, it also has a really long battery life. The card slots allow for the infinite expansion. I can't even spot a flaw in it. As soon as the original battery is used up, I'd replace it with the rechargeable one. Whew...can you guess how sickening this is to a gadget freak like me?

Every damn day of your life, you always try to keep track of time. Is it almost lunch hour? Am I late for work? You're bummed to know what to do and just by being consumed with the clock, it can drive you nuts. You feel tension creeping through your veins and it's not good for your health. Do you know that you may suffer from nervous breakdown and hypertension? So free yourself from a minute's anxiety. Take it slow and kill time with a PDA game.

I recently installed a Spider Solitaire in my PDA game collection. I used to play cards and whenever I don't have anybody to wage a bet with me, I play a game of solitaire. It's fascianating to know how you'll get lucky or unfortunate with a deck of cards. So playing it on my PDA, I enjoyed the three difficulty levels with scoreboard and players from around the world. The aim of the play is to wipe out all the cards from ten playing stacks.
Friday, May 4. 2007
Do you know what I like about having Spider Solitaire in my PDA? Even with its simplicity, you can be addicted to playing. And with its scoreboard, you just want to compete with other players. It can also be frustrating at times in different difficulty levels. Of the 104 cards in a stack, you'll just don't know if you'll win or not. Everytime I board a plane and feel the pain of being alone, I just turn to this game. It can kill time and before you know it, you're ready to stop for the next destination or activity.
Thursday, May 3. 2007
No matter what they say, PDA is still the product of man's pre-emptive brilliance. Remember how we used to taunt Galileo's theory and the scientist's inventions of automoblie and telephone until the future came to vindicate our ancestor's prejudicial folly. PDA sets the trend for business communication because it's Personal, Dependable and Acessible.
Wednesday, May 2. 2007
You can just reach down in your pockets and see the future on your hands. How is that for personalized success? Business and pleasure in one, wherever you go, PDA will stand by your side, supporting every decision and transaction you make.
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
What are the important jigsaw pieces of your puzling life? Family, friends or business? Sort it out and prioritize your activities and needs using a PDA. Organizer, weekly schedules and To-Do lists will make a huge difference. Life has never been organized this way at the palm of our hands!

Everyday the world shares and compares millions of information because information technology is the future. With PDA on hand, you can always keep up with demands of this challenging times using wireless internet access and built-in software applications. You can always reach for your dreams with a personal digital assistant.
Sunday, April 29. 2007
Advertisements claim that PDAs are essential business tools, and they're making a million dollar income from that sales pitch. But if you try to assess your needs fully, you may realize that you don't really need a PDA. It doesn't make life easier nor will it make much difference in your business ventures.
Saturday, April 28. 2007
Instead of a PDA, I'd rather have a girl Friday by my side. She'll respond to all my needs. I won't even have to budge. If I'm a business executive, why do I have to tinker with a mini PDA screen if I can get the reports and date sheets I need from my clerk. There's no sense at all if I can use a laptop with ease. It has a larger screen, a larger memory, plus the convenience of an easier wireless access. I can even use my cellphone as reminder and organizer. So who needs a PDA?
Friday, April 27. 2007
Sometimes all PDA can do is assert your status symbol. Not all businessmen are always on the go, they can afford some help from an assistant. On business trips, you don't present facts or data using your PDA. You've got hard copies for it. It's even inconvenient to manipulate PDA softwares using a stylus. But yes, it does make any man look sophisticated, advanced, and well-cultured. Only for me, all I need is a golf holiday as luxury for a businessman like me.
